Charcuterie Board Care Instructions

Each Urbane Charcuterie Board is laminated together with waterresistant, food safe glue. Once planed and sanded, it is finished withmineral oil (2 coats) and wax to protect it (both food safe). Over time thisbreaks down, so you will have to apply more mineral oil to it regularly.

DO

  • DO oil your board regularly with food safe mineral oil (Walrus Oil, Odie'sOil, or you can even find this at most pharmacies). I recommend it afterevery couple uses. It should only need about half an ounce (or less) oneach side, and you can just work it in with your hands or a dry, lint-freecloth. Add wax here for added protection (beeswax works or Walrus Oilmakes a good one or you can even find food safe mineral oil and waxcombos).

  • DO wash gently with a cloth dipped in soap and water after each use,and dry right away. Best to stand it up on it's side afterwards to allowair around all sides (rather than placing with one side down on a cloththat ends up being damp).

DON’T

  • DON’T immerse the board in water - it could crack, warp, twist, fall apart, and will eventually look old and weathered.

  • DON’T put in the dishwasher. Same reasons as above.

  • DON’T use abrasive materials or cleaners on the board (eg. steel wool, bleach, etc).

  • DON’T leave in direct sunlight for long periods of time or place on directheat (eg. the stove).

  • DON’T use olive oil, vegetable, oil, etc. as these will go rancid over time.
